Microdermabrasion
A safe, controlled salon treatment that results in great looking skin
Microdermabrasion is a safe, controlled treatment that intensely exfoliates and resurfaces the skin. It is the leading skincare treatment in the UK & Ireland for complete skin rejuvenation.

The Benefits of Microdermabrasion
A course of microdermabrasion can be used to give your skin a healthy glow or to target more specific requirements such as fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, sun damage & acne. Post treatment your skin continues to improve due to increased collagen & elastin production.
The benefits of microdermabrasion are many.
As a non-surgical method of skin rejuvenation, microdermabrasion is quick, convenient and painless, immediately restoring younger, smoother looking skin without the need for chemicals, lasers or injectables.
The huge number of benefits is what makes microdermabrasion such a popular treatment.
A single SkinBase™ treatment can remove up to three times the number of dead skin cells in a single session than other exfoliating treatments.
EFFECTIVENESS
Zero Recovery Time
Unlike many skin rejuvenation treatments, microdermabrasion is non-invasive, so requires zero recovery time. It is often referred to as the ‘lunchtime facial’ because of the convenience and effectiveness.
Flexible to Suit Individual Skin Types
The treatment settings are widely adjustable; meaning therapists are able to tailor the treatment to individual skin types and problems.
Better Skin for Longer
Microdermabrasion encourages cell renewal, which means your skin will benefit from improved elasticity, a smoother texture and reduced signs of ageing.
Everyone Can Benefit
Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types, and therapists will assess your skin before advising on the number of treatments you will need.

What is Microdermabrasion
The SkinBase™ Facial microdermabrasion treatment uses a stream of non-allergenic crystals to remove your skin’s outermost layers of dead cells. Your therapist will use the handset to direct the stream of crystal over the treatment area and, where necessary, target specific zones. The handset then uses a mild suction to draw away the crystal and skin debris to reveal your new and improved complexion.
The SkinBase™ Facial is chemical free and non-invasive yet achieves amazing results revealing younger, healthier looking skin from the very first treatment. The skin’s appearance is further improved through increased collagen & elastin production as your body produces a new layer of skin.

4 Simple Steps

The SkinBase™ Therapist will determine your individual needs and devise a treatment plan to achieve the results that you require. Treatments plans can vary from single ‘beauty boost’ treatments to courses of 6 to 20 treatments every 7 to 10 days.

A gel cleanser will be used to ensure that your skin is clean and dry before the treatment commences. For male clients, ideally your face should be clean shaved the night before a treatment (this is not essential). Dry, shaven and clean skin means that the abrasive compound can penetrate the skin unobstructed.

A wand delivering a fine jet of abrasive crystals will be passed over the skin. Dead skin particles will be abraded away and a vacuum action will remove the debris. This dual action will both resurface the skin and stimulate the blood flow, encouraging the skin to rejuvenate itself and produce collagen and elastin. After passing across the skin area once, the therapist will then target problem areas like open pores, pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and acne scarring.

After the treatment a simple moisturiser with a neutral pH (pH 4.5 – pH 7) and without any essential oils, AHA’s, glycolics or retinol should be applied to replenish lost moisture and to prevent the skin becoming dry and peeling. Sun damage can cause pigmentation and premature ageing of the skin. After a SkinBase™ Facial it is essential to protect the skin from excessive sun exposure by applying a moisturiser with an SPF.
Who is Microdermabrasion For?
The vacuum action during The SkinBase™ Facial works to stimulate the production of collagen, something we lose gradually as we age. This stimulation and skin’s renewal improves the condition of the skin’s surface – helping to target ageing skin, stretch marks, pigmentation, cellulite, dry and dehydrated skin and acne scarring.
For anti-ageing treatments, all skin types and tones from ages 28 and up will benefit the most from The SkinBase™ Facial. However, for problematic skin such as Acne Scarring all age groups can benefit.
Under 16 year olds will need a parental co-sign however.
Diagnosing your Skin Type
Zero Recovery Time

Dry skin is caused by under-active oil glands that do not produce enough sebum to keep the skin naturally hydrated. It may have a dull appearance and feel dry and itchy. Dry skin must be hydrated regularly from the inside (drinking water) and outside with the likes of microdermabrasion treatments, hydrating creams and lotions. Removing the dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin using The SkinBase™ Facial speeds up the rate at which the skin would normally renew itself, revealing new, fresh skin and a radiant glow.

Oily skin is produced by glands that produce too much sebum, resulting in skin that appears shiny and has some large open pores. Oily skin types are prone to develop blackheads and acne. Oily skin benefits hugely from microdermabrasion. Light moisturisers should be applied afterwards.

Sensitive skins can be dry, normal or oily and are characterised by their delicacy. Sensitive skin frequently reacts adversely to environmental conditions and often requires special treatment in order to remain in good condition. Due to the make up of The SkinBase™ Facial, those with sensitive skin can be sure that any reddening of the skin will be temporary and will subside within 24-48 hours.

Normal skin produces sebum at a moderate rate, resulting in a balanced state. Normal skin looks consistently plump, moist and vibrant. A great blessing but still requires no less attention. It benefits from regular microdermabrasion, cleansing, toning and moisturising.

Combination skin is the most common skin type. Combination skin is frequently characterised by an oily ‘T’ zone area that covers the forehead, nose and chin. While the skin around the cheeks, eyes and mouth is normal to dry. People with oily skin benefit from microdermabrasion as they can have different levels of intensity focused on different parts of their skin.

Mature skin becomes dry as sebaceous glands become less active. Skin loses elasticity and fine lines and wrinkles appear. Skin appears thinner with broken capillaries, especially on the cheek area and around the nose. Blood circulation becomes poor, which interferes with the skin nutrition making skin appear sallow. Mature skin must be hydrated well through drinking water, using nourishing moisturisers and having regular microdermabrasion treatments.
The SkinBase™ Facial is progressive rather than aggressive, so skin layers are gently removed over a course of treatments. With treatments ideally being carried out every 7 – 10 days, each treatment can be increased in intensity. This will make sure the microdermabrasion exfoliation reaches deeper layers of the skin and allows for acne scarring to be removed, pigmentation lifted and fine lines smoothed. Whoever you are,The SkinBase™ Facial will help you to attain smoother, youthful looking skin.*
